In the fall of 2018, an accidental fire ravaged part of the Bluffs at Lakewood, damaging 33 apartment units and rendering them uninhabitable. About 90 firefighters were dispatched to fight the growing flames which tore through the apartment community. Thankfully, everyone was able to get out of the building and no one was hurt, but dozen of families were left without a place to live. Indio responded swiftly, securing shelter for residents at vacant apartments in both this and sister apartment communities and working overtime to ensure everyone was taken care of. Restorations totaling $2.2M on the building followed, and the sections destroyed by the fire had to be rebuilt from the ground up. The team took things in stride, working hard until the building and apartment homes were restored.
